Chapter 13 and 14

Now I do believe everyone when they said that those were the most two graphic chapters in the book. The image of limbs and head floating in the river is enough to make any one feel sick. Imagine at the age of 13 killing people and doing drugs to the point where you can’t even sleep. I could not imagine anyone doing this. Especially so young. It’s not fair to these kids that this is how they have to live their life. They should be able to live it in freedom and not have to worry about what they are going to eat the next day or if their head is going to be blown off while fighting.

Ishmael does not seem like the type of boy who do this. But this book shoes that just about anybody can be desensitized to the point where it becomes their life and that that is all that they think about. Even when they don’t have to they do. What really terrified me was during his first experience of fighting when he sees his friend dies. He sees him thrown up into the air by the force of a grenade that he lands so hard that he cracks his spine. Then all he can do is sit there and watch him die while blood is being squirted on his face and everything around him.

Good post, I agree highly that the point with the limbs and heads were floating would make me feel sick... And you are right Ishmael doesn't seem like the kind of kid that would do this, but those kids are the ones who you have to watch out for!!!

I would be so sick if I saw limbs of people floating by in a river. I would feel so nauseated by that image. I can't believe how much detail Ishmael has. I can't imagine going through what he went through. If someone else's blood got on me I would be freaked out. That is just so gross.
