At the very beginning of chapter 11 I got really excited for Ishmael that he would most likely be able to see his family again, but that soon faded. After the first page I thought after everything he has been through I don’t think that he is going to et lucky and be able to see his family again. That’s what I wanted to happen but the feeling in my gut said that there was going to be something keeping him in the way of getting to his family… and I was right. AS soon as they said they saw smoke and heard shots I knew what was happening. I knew that either his parents and family were going to be killed or they would have run in the opposite direction just for Ishmael to have to go chasing after them again. When he got to the description part of what had happened I couldn’t believe that human beings were act ally doing that. That they could force themselves to do all of that to a human being just like that.
When Ishmael was handed the gone I knew the book was going to go downhill from there. Those soldiers were going to find a way to pull all of the last hope he had left out of him. It could all be gone and all that was left was the need for revenge. I was actually happy when he was shaking when he received the gun because if he wasn’t that would have proven that he was completely desensitized and ready to because “the opposite of the rebels.” Yes they were fighting against them but they were still murdering people for revenge.

I agree that i was also excited for Ishmael to see his family and what finally happened wasn't the best.Ya it was pretty gross when they were talking about what had happened to people when the rebels had left. I agree when you were talking about he hasn't been fully desensitized because he still fears guns.
I got exited to but his hopes where crushed and i bet his family was killed in that rebel raid. i agree with both of u when you where talking about how these chapters where really gross. I hope Pfanschmidt is reading this because I'm tired of reading books that are ether boring gross or sad. We need to read some happy i was so excited as well i thought that he was going to be reunited with his family, i felt a sick feeling in my stomach as i continued reading and found that his parents had been killed. i wanted the man to hurry up because my heart was pounding and racing because i knew how badly he wanted to see them again
